Computed tomography (CT) has transformed fields by enabling non-destructive three-dimensional (3D) imaging. However, conventional CT is fundamentally limited by acquisition speed: high-quality 3D reconstruction typically requires thousands of X-ray radiographs acquired over a full specimen rotation, taking minutes to hours. This makes CT unsuitable for fast, transient phenomena such as additive manufacturing, impact, fracture and high-rate deformation.
A postdoc position is available at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the University of Houston. The postdoc will work under my supervision on the asymptotic analysis of compliant thin shells (e.g., homogenization, size effects, stability) and will aim to solve theoretical problems motivated by application areas (e.g., space deployables, architecture)

I have an opening for a post-doctoral fellow position in my group. The initial appointment is for one year and is renewable. The ideal candidate must have a strong foundation in classical continuum mechanics. Research in my group is largely theoretical supplemented (occasionally) with computational work. Although not required, some background in quantum mechanics, statistical physics, and electromagntism is desirable.
