Hi,

I hope this is the right forum to get some help for my work.

I am looking at CT data (DICOM files) to make FEM models. To generate
3D surface/volumes for FEM, I was looking for softwares. They all are
pretty expensive (4-10K USD). I have decide togo with Able Software's 3D-DOCTOR. I am lookign for some reviews or user experience or comments for this tool.

Thanks

How to program the change of Young's modulus depending on the former element

Submitted by jeonghunyi on

Hello,

Now I want to simulate the change Young's modulus due to the mechanical stimulus in soft tissue. In our soft tissue(scaffold) we have seeded living cells and these cells produce the collagen fiber type-II which could be interpreted as change of Young's modulus. The Young's modulus of neighbour elements of the cells have to change depending on the Young's modulus of former elements like domino.

I have two constitutitve equations programmed in UMAT i. e. for scaffold and for fibers and they run good.

Hello All Dear:

I have a model of the knee with its soft tissue between 2 femur and Tibia Bones, then I want to load 2 boundrical condition

s on it , 1- The 6-DOF's of Tibia and Femur Bones Center of Mass, (x,y,z,R1,R2,R3) time dependent. and 2-The

concentrated  load that is exerted on the cross section of the Tibia Shank (Lower Bone) Time Dependent. Then Dear, Can

anyone Help Me,Please how to Put these 2 kinds of Boundrical Conditions on the Model.

Kind Regards.

Determination of material Mechanical Properties in ANSYS using Force-Displacement graph obtianed experimentally

Submitted by Abdullah Chami on

Hi all.

I am a doctor course student in Biomechanics in Nagoya University - Japan.

I read a bunch of papers in which the determining the conffecients of hyperelasticty of the skin soft tissue was done by using FE Simulation of an expermiment that can be performed on the skin then TWEAKING (IN FACT ANSYS SUPPOSE TO HAVE AN ITERATIVE MODEULE TO DO THIS) the conffecients so THAT the force-displacement results from the simulation are close enough to the ones obtained from experiment.

NOW:

I have the Experiment results

QLV (Quasi Linear Viscoelasticity) vs Linear Viscoelasticity

Submitted by Gungho on

Can anyone explain what is main difference between Linear Viscoelasticity vs qlv (Quasi linear Viscoelasticity) proposed by Fung.  As far as I understand stress relaxation function and elastic response functions separated and given in convolution form which provides "strain rate independent" results in qlv application.

Is linear viscoelastic description is strain dependent?

I am looking for a Finite Element software for Teeth and Implant modeling and analysis. Is there a special FE software for this, or which of these softwares can solve the proplem.

Abaqus, ProEng, Ansys, catia, solidworks, or anyother software..

please, if you know about solving this problem, share your thoughts with me.. or send me a link to this kind of analysis...

thanks to all in advance...

Max penetration error in ABAQUS

Submitted by spawaskar on

I am doing contact simulation of soft material. I want to change the default criterion for max penetration error, but can't seem to find how to do it. I tried contact controls relative and absolute penetration tolerances, hcrit but that did not affect the error criterion. Can someone help me please?

Watching seeds germinate

Hi,

I have been watching some small seeds germinate on different media.

The root pops out first, from a split in one end of the seed, navigates down to the substrate, then inserts itself into the substrate if it can (e.g. when placed on sand or soil). Otherwise it grows along the surface horizontally (on filter paper). The vertical growing plant also puts out a horizontal set of very fine root hairs, at the ground surface, and then stands up, lifting the seed into the air with the first leaves still stuck inside the seed.

How to do sound transmission in solid in Abaqus?

Hello all. I am a phd student from UNB. Now I want to use Abaqus to simulate acoustic problem which is sound transmission from fluid such as air to solid. The outputs I want to get are acoustic pressure in fluid and solid, especially inside solid. What I did before is treating solid as fluid by using acoustic medium. However, the mechanics of solids are fundamentally different from fluids, and its not sensible to treat them the same. For example solids support shear, while fluids do not. Hope someone could answer my question. Thanks a lot.
