Two PhD positions on experimental and computational multiscale mechanics at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands

Our Mechanics of Materials Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands has two openings for talented PhD students in the field of multiscale mechanics of materials. They are part of a European Union funded project on multiscale methods for advanced materials. One opening is on the development of a fundamentally new multiscale approach towards material modelling and the other aims to integrate this approach with experimental methods.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Mechanics of Composite Materials at IMDEA Materials

The research group of Structural Composites at IMDEA Materials (Madrid, Spain), led by Dr. Cláudio S. Lopes and Dr. Carlos González, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the field of multiscale computational analysis of composite structures. Candidates with strong background knowledge on computational damage mechanics, model development, and on numerical simulation of advanced composite materials and structures are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in experimental mechanical testing of composites is highly valued.

Postdoctoral Positions in Computational Mechanics and Multiphysics at the US Naval Research Laboratory

The Multifunctional Materials Branch of the Materials Science & Technology Division at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC has an interest in postdoctoral associate candidates for several areas in computational mechanics and multiphysics.

Topic of interest include: a) biomechanics of injury at high-rate of deformation at multiple scales, b) multiscale dynamics of flexible armor, c) crystal plasticity and dislocation dynamics in electrically assisted deformation of metals, and d) multiphysics modeling of corrosion.

USNCCM12 MS4.9: Concurrent Multi-Length Scale Modeling: from Finite Elements to Atoms and Electrons (call for abstract)

Our Mechanics of Materials Group at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, in association with Materials innovation institute M2i, has two openings for talented PhD students in the field of multiscale mechanics of materials. They are part of a project on multiscale hygro-mechanics of paper. The industrial background of the project is in inkjet-printing. One opening is on experimental characterisation and the other on multiscale computational modelling.

For exceptionally suited young doctors we may consider changing the positions into PostDoc positions.
