A funded PhD position is available in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology for an interdisciplinary research project on the chemo-mechanical degradation and fracture of solid electrolytes for solid-state batteries, with a start date in Spring 2027.
The research will integrate advanced experiments and computational modeling to address fundamental problems at the intersection of mechanics, materials science, and electrochemistry. This position is a good fit for students with a strong interest in fundamental problems in mechanics with important applications to next-generation energy storage. Interested candidates should contact Dr. Shuman Xia at %20shuman.xia [at] me.gatech.edu (shuman[dot]xia[at]me[dot]gatech[dot]edu) with a CV and a brief note describing their background and research interests.
