Modelling a crack using ansys
How can i model a crack in a solid block(3D) in ansys. Do i need to use quater point elements at the crack tip or a general mesh will be sufficient.?

Abstract
Following our previous work on Cu-Zr nanowire system, in this paper we have shown improvement in various thermo-mechanical properties of nanowire via manipulating the surface atoms. The paper titled "Designing copper–zirconium based nanowires for improving yield strength and plasticity via configuring surface atoms" by Vijay Kumar Sutrakarand D Roy Mahapatra has been published in Journal of Nanoparticle Research. Hi i am a student at NUST and i need help to model composite plates in ansys and to carryout their impact testing in ANSYS if anyone can help then please my E-mail is umer_virk_7381 [at] hotmail.com (umer_virk_7381[at]hotmail[dot]com)
hello,
i am a student of NIT calicut trying to do project (FATIGUE LIFE OF GIRTH WELD IN PIPE).using ABAQUS.
I am beginer in ABAQUS.
SO can any one help me by sendin any tut of Crack formation and propagation of crack in weld joint in ABAQUS

WORKSHOP: Image-based Simulation for Biomechanics, Materials Applications, and Reverse Engineering
This workshop is aimed at those interested in 3D reconstruction from radiology images, and in using 3D image data (as obtained from CT, Micro-CT, MRI and Ultrasound) to generate Rapid Prototyping, CAD, and Finite Element models.
Participants will learn:
• how to generate computer models from your 3D image data
• how to import and position CAD files in the image data
CORNELL UNIVERSITY School of Civil and Environmental Engineering announces a tenure-track faculty position in structural engineering starting in Fall 2012-2013.
At Cornell, structural engineering is conceived of broadly, to encompass structures across scales where well understood physical laws apply. We are currently seeking a person in stochastic mechanics, with the ability to develop and use modern computational tools to solve real problems and to advance both the understanding and design of complex structural systems across a range of materials.
