Cohesive element modelling problem in ABAQUS

Submitted by hermatician on

Dear All,

I am modelling a 3 point bend specimen with Cohesive elements tied to the upper and lower halves of the specimen in 2d.

The problem is that the CZ elements perform properly only for a combination of element sizes, i.e. a combination of element size of structure and CZ elements, for instance in my case the structure/specimen element size is 0.2mm and CZ is 0.001 or 0.002. For any other combination the adjacent elements bend as shown in the attached image.

I will be glad if someone could explain this behaviour and the solution.

What fatigue damage model do you suggest to use in numerical simulations?

I want to simulate fatigue damage of foams (like PVCs). What fatigue damage model do you suggest? What model is regularly used in Industry? is there any one who simulate fatigue damage in Abaqus?

subroutine interface to visit nodal displacements in Abaqus

Submitted by Oskar Xavier on

I wonder if there is any subroutine interface to have access to nodal ( not integral point ) displacement in abaqus DURING the analysis phase.  Suppose I have a field that is going to be used in UMAT and that is dependent on  displacements of all nodes (presumably stored in an array) from the last increment. Is this possible to be implemented within Abaqus?

Thank you all !

ABAQUS - the influence of changing kinematic and cycling hardening parameters

Hello,

I have recently done a simple hourglass model to check the influence of hardening parameters in Abaqus. The reason was the effects of the parameters' change in bigger models were a bit surprising, therefore I needed to investigate the reason using some simpler model. Please see file 1.

After performing tension/compression cycles I got results as shown in files 2, 3, 4 and 5. Please note that only the hardening parameter in the description changes, the other three stays the same for each series.
