Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Solid Mechanics at FSU

Submitted by Suvranu De on

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher to fill a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Computational Solid Mechanics at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering (FAMU-FSU COE) in Tallahassee, Florida. The researcher will work on projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) aimed at developing novel computational techniques that leverage deep learning methods for solving problems in computational solid mechanics.

Open PhD position for Fall 2023 on the multiscale damage mechanics of pyrolyzing carbon

Submitted by Andrew J. Gross on

One PhD student is sought to fill an opening in the Gross Materials Lab (group website: andrewjgross.com) at the University of South Carolina. This research is focused on developing predictive models for how damage forms in carbon/carbon composites during manufacturing. This research will be primarily computational and provide opportunities to work closely with a team of researchers that are conducting experiments.  Students must be capable coders and a US citizen to be considered.

Postdoc (1.5 years) on topology optimization of electrical machines

Submitted by wvpaepeg on

Over the past years, UGent-MMS has developed a stand-alone topology optimization code for additive manufacturing applications. The topology optimization software can deal with thermo-mechanical coupled problems, combined with multi-material selection. Such features are not available in any commercial topology optimization code.
The code can also deal with large industrial optimization problems, with millions degrees of freedom in three-dimensional finite element models.

Postdoc (3 years) on finite element modelling of textile materials and processes

Submitted by wvpaepeg on

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher for a research project on textile modelling. In this project, the main purpose is to develop a multi-scale textile modelling framework that allows accurate simulation of textile manufacturing processes such as yarn unwinding from a bobbin, weft insertion during weaving, stitching and tufting. This framework is implemented using finite element modelling as well as virtual fibre modelling. Key here are the dynamics of these systems as most textile production happens at high speeds.
