Fillet Weld in ABAQUS

Hello everyone,

I want to model a connection between two steel plates which form a T-section. The welds are fillet weld. Do you have any recommendation how to model the weld? One way I think of is to connect the two plates with two solid elements weld through tie constraint. You think that's a right way of doing that?

Permeability Modelling in Abaqus

Submitted by Vikram Kumar on

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to model flow of water through a mud wall using Abaqus CFD and Abaqus Standard which will certainly involve co-simulation. It will help in understanding about behaviour of unstablized mud bricks. So if anyone have done such work in abaqus please suggest some tutorials and papers related to permeablity modelling.

Constraints in a Soil-Structure interaction

Hello everyone,

I am trying to model the SSI in 2D plane strain. When I am modelling the soil+footing exclusively, there is no problem.

However, when I want to introduce a pier [beam element] with a lumped mass on top of it, I cannot get the constraints right.

The soil is a deformable 2D plane strain body, the footing is declared as rigid body with a RP in the middle. The pier is a beam element whilst the lumped mass is a simple mass element [inertia/mass].

Fracture analysis with XFEM through ABAQUS for Edge crack in 3D composite plate

Submitted by manoj0085 on

Dear all,

I did it fracture analysis 3D plate with edge crack to find SIF for isotropic material, but when i try to do same for compossite material than not happende. Than i used Elastic--Engineering constant material with equivalent E11, E1, E2, E3, Nu12,  Nu13, Nu23, G12,  G13, G23 but still analysis is not done and getting following error, Contour integral for k-factor and t-stress with xfem cannot be calculated with nonisotropic elasticity Abaqus/Standard Analysis exited with an error - Please see the message file for possible error messages if the file exists.

Hello, All

***Problem ***

Failure pressure for Steam generator tube having 2 axial cracks. I am following one paper in that paper they found failure pressure by finding J and K values for line spring elements for different pressure. The pressure at which it approach material JIC(92N/mm) and KIC(65Mpa*sqrt(m)) value is considered as failure pressure or coalescence pressus

Generate master curve for viscoelasticity

Hello,

I would like to generate a master curve (e.g. of the storage modulus) based on frequency-sweeps experiment for different temperatures.

Basically, I need to determine the shifts in order to construct the master curve. I want to automatize the process with Matlab, instead of shifting the data by hand. And I don't want to use WLF or Arrhenius methods.

I want to determine the shifts for each temperature s.t. I get a smooth master curve (minimize the error using least square).

How do I rectify an error regarding memory storage when I generate substructures in ABAQUS?

I have been trying to generate a substructure in ABAQUS for a big diameter roller bearing. I have used two reference points, one each for inner and outer raceways to couple the inner and outer raceway surfaces. I have two steps in the analysis. The first step is Frequency followed by Substructure generation step. The analysis runs fine till the end of first step and calculates the eigen frequencies. When the second step starts, following error message appears.

" Element 439473 requires more than 2GB of memory for storage"
