What is static riks solver?? Please explain in details.. As I am a learner of abaqus I get problem understanding some things, like arc length,  increment in static riks etc.. I find that it is very useful for simulating collaps behaiour.. I wish to do a thrust experiment regarding geological setup... Please help and guide me..

Thank you

Large Deformation - Definition of total work energy density

Like we have the elastic strain energy density for small deformations  defined as 0.5* σ :e  .

Is the equation PK2:E valid for the total work energy density for elastoplastic regimes ? If not, what would be a valid equation for total energy density ?

How can we decompose total work density into elastic work and plastic work densities for a large deformation case.

Where,

PK2 is the second piola kirchoff stress tensor

E is the Green-Lagrange strain tensor

Thanks,

Prithivi

Transfroming applied tractions into statically equivalent nodal force BC

Hello,

I am trying to produce results for problems with analytical solution to validate my FE code. One of the problmes is the classical plate with a hole configuration with tractions applied at boundaries. However, presently, I can only impose BC in terms of nodal forces and displacements. Therefore I must transform the applied stress in statically equivalent nodal forces.

LS-DYNA error messages

Submitted by ycwang on

Hi everyone,

I am doing airplane impact problem. In my simulation, I need to have an airplane and a wall. The material of the wall is concrete. I utilized the LS-DYNA concrete damage
model (keyword *MAT_CONCRETE_DAMAGE) to describe the wall and also added *DEFINE_CURVE for tabulated strain/pressure data. I kept getting error messages:

*** Error 20450 (STR+450)
Material model 72 (CONCRETE_DAMAGE)
Only eos 8, eos 9 and eos 11 are valid

*** Error 20018 (STR+18)
input phase completed with 1 fatal errors
please check messag file

Cant solve "too many attempts made for this increment"-issue on some models

Hello at all,

I have some serious issues with some of my models in Abaqus 6.14. I need to simulate shear failure to investigate the influence of concrete strength and fracture energy on the size effect. So far, everything went good. I calculated almost 100 models without any problem with exactly the same model (only materials changed). But: For the combination of concrete strength fck=50MPa and a fracture energy of Gf=60N/m or Gf=80N/m, the calculations will stop after a short time although the .odb file shows only some minor bending cracks in the beam

Dear all,

Currently I am engaged in solving a geological problem. So we have some soil model in the form of disk, there is a circular hole in the center, which has the initial pressure at the reference time  (a modelling of the soil injection with the polymer compound)

How can I recalculate the normal pressure inside the circular hole of the soil model using the DLOAD subroutine if the neighbouring FEs were failed.

How to plot displacement and stress contours in Abaqus

Submitted by Muhammad Ziaur… on

Hello,

While showing results under Visualization in abaqus, I can generate contours of U1,U2 as displacements. How can I plot contours of Ux and Uy? Similarly, How can I plot contours of Sigma_x, Sigma_y and Sigma_xy?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Abaqus bending capacity

Submitted by Dzonni on

Hello, everybody. I am relatively new to ABAQUS so i need help from the ones who know a lot more than me. I did a lateral torsional buckling analysis of a beam made of shell elements and i have introduced the first buckling mode as an initial imperfection for my next step where i need to obtain the ultimate bending moment, which has to be lower than the critical moment, due to imperfections. My questions are:

1) Do i conduct static general or static Riks analysis?

2) Do i use the critical load to obtain the ultimate bending moment?
