ANSYS ACP Prep Post- composite stress strain answers not matching with textbook

i'm using ANSYS ACP Prep Post for  last 2 months for the analysis of composite plate subjected to tensile loading but the value of stress and strain not matching with the answers of textbooks..is there any help possible?

Abaqus - line load on channel beam applied outside of a beam (in shear center)

Hello, everybody. I'm having a problem regarding the application of a line load beyond the contours of a channel tube made out of shell elements. I am trying to perform lateral torsional buckling analysis and the load needs to act in shear center. Does anybody have a solution for this?

ABAQUS: How to define displacement BCs relative to deformed geometry?

Hi everybody,

I would like to apply a displacement field to the surface nodes of a previously deformed solid mesh.
In Step 1, the model undergoes some deformation depending on changing design variables. In Step 2, I want to move some of the surface nodes with respect to the resulting configuration (internal stresses and deformed geom). To apply exact displacements in step 2 does not work, because it is still referenced to the undeformed geom before step 1, which leads to incorrect displacements.

Hi, 

I'm actually working on numerical modeling of  damage in adhesively bonded joints.  I found three basic approaches for it in litterature 

_Continuum approcha

_local approach

_Hybrid CZM_ XFEM approach

I'm trying a model on local approach, but i faced a problem which consits of overlapping continuum adhesive layer and adherends elements when cohesive elements get fully damaged

I need a suggenstion on how to hadnle this problem.

Modeling of temperature(heat diffusion) across the grain boundary using interface

Dear all,

I intend to model temperature propagation across the grain boundaries to simulate the gaseous diffusion. In my microstructure the interfaces are generated based on cohesive surfaces.

Now, to model the heat transfer across interfaces the possibilites could be

1. after each increment stop the simulation, search for the neighboring elements of all the interfaces and set their values equal based on some linux or python script and let it run

2. write a UEL and inform the user element about this physics

LS-PREPOST auto mesher problem

Hi everyone,

I downloaded a geometry on line and tried to make mesh by using "Auto Mesher" on LS-PREPOST. After I selected all parts from the left hand side on LS-PREPOST window, those geometry parts didn't show up on "sel. geometry(0)". The option "Mesh" in "Auto mesher" didn't work at all. Please see the settings in the attachment. Could anyone please give me some suggestions to fix this problem? Any idea would be apprecited. Thank you.

Can anyone help me check my VUMAT code for Neo-Hookean material?

Hi,

I am new to writing VUMAT. I tested my Neo-Hookean hyperelastic material and the build-in Abaqus material on single element model but got quite different results. Can anyone take a look at my code and let me know if there is anything wrong?

The code was based on a previous example of Jorgen's VUMAT_NH, but I used a different constitutive model to match the build-in abaqus material.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
