The paper mainly focuses on the chances and frontiers our research group encountered dealing with high preformance large deformations simulations in geomechanics under highly complex conditions.
This study presents a mesh objective crack band model is implemented in the generalized method of cells (GMC) micromechanics model to predict failure of a composite repeating unit cell (RUC). The micromechanics calculations are achieved using the MAC/GMC core engine within the ImMAC suite of micromechanics codes, developed at the NASA Glenn Research Center.
These gates are designed to withstand the hydrostatic and
transient pressure loads. A phenomenon that is, however, usually overlooked in the design is the hydrodynamic pressure that is built up in the system during an earthquake.
The study was performed using scaled Tabas earthquake acceleration as the input seismic motion. The results of the simulations are presented in form of a parametric study on the effect of culvert tunnel length, venting geometry, dimension and topology of the vents,
existence of notch at the vent opening, and also the cavitation effect.

This paper shows that the lateral stiffness analysis result of vehicle suspension can be improved with the accurate bearing stiffness model correlated with experimental vehicle test data and also, shows which design parameters contribute to lateral stiffness of vehicle suspension.

In this paper, finite element (FE) models are developed for
some of the ballasted track components including wood and concrete crossties, ballast and subgrade. A user material subroutine is employed to predict the failure of wood ties based on an
orthotropic stress criterion.
The mechanical manipulation of the equipment, however, can induce significant sudden movement of the completion tubing string near the tool’s locking mechanism. The rapid movement of the tubing string causes large relative motion and “piston effect” forces between tool components and fluid present in the wellbore.
