PhD Studentship at UCL: Design and optimisation of aperiodic architected materials

Submitted by fbosi on

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to undertake PhD research at University College London (UCL) through the UCL EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Award (UELA) Studentships.

The project, Data-Driven Multiscale Design and Optimisation of Aperiodic Architected Materials, will be carried out in close collaboration with and co-sponsored by Spherene AG, a company developing advanced aperiodic minimal-surface architectures for additive manufacturing.

The project combines computational mechanics, architected materials, homogenisation, data-driven modelling, topology optimisation and additive manufacturing, with strong interaction between academic research and industrial development through the collaboration with Spherene AG.

Potential candidates are welcome to contact me informally by email before applying, ideally including a CV and a brief indication of their research interests and relevant background.

More information about the project is available here (project code: 2531cc1062): https://www.ucl.ac.uk/study/sites/study/files/2026-10/UELA27-28%20Project%20catalogue%20%28Collab%20projects%20only%29.pdf
