Hello,
If i know the yield stress, ultimate stress, and modules of elasticity.can i predict the behavior of stress strain in the plastic region using some kind of model.?

Hello everyone, I need to deduce the effective plastic parameters (yield criterion + hardening curve) for a laminated plate (of type [0/20/-20/-20/20/0] for example)
For monoclinic polycrystalline materials, how can we uniquely index the X-ray diffraction spectrum so that we can calculate the accurate lattice parameters a, b, c and beta? Due to the fact that there are four unknown variables coupled to determine d-spacings, we can not easily read out the lattice parameters until enough diffraction peaks positions are obtained correctly. This leads to two questions
1. How do we get the full diffraction peaks from a monoclinic polycrystalline sample if it is partially textured?
Is it possible to find the Mohr-Coulomb constitutive model umat for Abaqus?
or generally a Mohr-Coulomb subroutine written in fortran?
Thank you!!!
Hi, I am a new PhD student working on the vibration behavior of a thin polymer film. Specifically the film is an elastomer VHB 4910. The question that I have specifically is that initially the film is 500 microns thick. Upon the application of prestress, the film is stretched (clamped) and the film thickness decreases to 20 microns. Assuming that the thickness is uniform, how can I calculate the tension in the membrane?
Thanks for any suggestions that you can provide, and happy new year!
Dear all,
Iam working in composite orthotropic laminates consists of many plies having different material properties in each ply. How to determine or calculate the flexural rigidity (D) of this laminate by transforming these composite into an isotropic model. The idea is that flexural rigidity of the orthotropic laminate is being smeared into a single isotropic formulation.
For instance: if I have three plies:
Ply1 : D1x and D1y
Ply2: D2x and D2y
Ply3: D3x and D3y
Dear All,
Why rubber and like soft materials are incompressible? I do not want any
explanation in formula like, volumetric strain is zero or poissons
ratio is 0.5 etc. Physically whats happening when we apply compressive
load? For example take a gas, when you compress, the density will
change. Is there any of the properties are changing?
Thank you,

Dear all,
I am using Abaqus to model concrete as an elastic material. However, the failure criteria available in the software is only for 2D elements and are dominated by a maximum normal stress (fail stress option) or normal strain (fail strain option) value.
I was wondering if anyone would know how to model concrete as an elastic material following "theory of elasticity" and failing by a maximum TENSILE strain value in any of the three directions given a material's point.
It would also be perfect if deleting elemnts option can be used in this case.
I am doing ph.d work related to powder mettalurgy
I want to simulate the compaction process ( in powder mettalurgy) by using ABAQUS.It is very essential to find a way to create a model which will behave as such as PM part.
After modeling it is next work to find the proper analysis method to do analysis by applying compressive load to study the deformation of the PM Part. In ABAQUS, Modified Drucker-Prager cap model is widely used for the compaction problems of different metals in many research papers.
I have 2 problems.
Hi to everybody.
I'm looking for innovative panels in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) to include in bibliography research.
I'd like to know the state of the art of using of CFRP (and after also of GFRP, Glare, Kevlar and Arall) in mechanic and aerospace industries...
I hope someone can help me. Thanks
