This is a very basic question.
What is the basic difference betwen a structured and unstructured mesh?
Is it that a mesh of only triangular eleemnts can only be UNSTRUCTURED?
Which is preferred and why?

Hi,
I want to model a simple bending RC beam using "smear" approach in ANSYS. Can anybody tell me which approach is right or both are the same?
1. I create two real constant sets for SOLID65 element. First one doesnt have volume ratio for the reinforcement, the second one does. Then, I create two seperate volumes adjacent to eachother and one under the other. I glue them and before meshing I choose the first real constant set for the upper one and the second set for the other as mesh attributes.

I'm a PhD student and as part of my research I need to implement a triangular finite element using the displacement/pressure mixed formulation. I'm implementing two field incompressible elasticity from the book of Zienkiewicz and Taylor "The finite element method, Vol. I". The mixed approximation form is given as:

|C^T*u - V*p = 0
which leads to (A + C*V^-1*C^T)*u=f1.

Everybody I am trying to design a composite layup and to design a bulleye hitted by a blunt bullet and need to do element deletion on it by using hashin damage model in abaqus but I am new to abaqus please help me regarding designing of lamina ,failuremodel and element deletion
I am workingon a model in which i have a soft layer of material bonded between to rigidlayers of material via cohesive elements following a linear separation-tractionlaw based on a critical fracture energy value I determined from experimentaland numerical work. I have the interlayer and cohesive elements as one partwith a partitioned face and connected to the two adherends viasurface-to-surface ties. I have found that my model runs successfully only ifthe soft interlayer material is made very stiff.

I am working on multi stage cold rolling of al-cu bimetal. I want to transfer results between two abaqus/explicit. that is, the stress field output be applied as input data in next analysis(2nd rolling process in experience).
Indeed I want import from abaqus/explicit to abaqus/explicit .
