Determining multiple contact pairs in Abaqus explicit

Submitted by tuhinsinha.25 on

Hello,

I want to know that is there a novel way of defining several two dimensional contact pairs in Abaqus/Explicit. I know that abaqus has the capability of defining a general contact but it is restricted only to Abaqus standard and 3D Abaqus explicit problems.

I have a 2D plane strain problem where I have to specify more than 1000 contact pairs in the assembly between similar instances of the same part. Is there a fortran subroutine that could be used to determine so many contact pairs?

Thanks,

Tuhin

Writing User Subroutines with ABAQUS

Submitted by Ahmad Rafsanjani on

Dear All,

I think that many students are looking for some tutorials about writing a UMAT in ABAQUS.

You can find a comprehensive tutorial for elastic problems.

This file contains:

• Motivation

• Steps Required in Writing a UMAT or VUMAT

• UMAT Interface

Examples

Example 1: UMAT for Isotropic Isothermal Elasticity

Example 2: UMAT for Non-Isothermal Elasticity

Example 3: UMAT for Neo-Hookean Hyperelasticity

Viscoelastic material model in abaqus-am i taking the correvt approach

Submitted by FYPNoddy on

Hi all,

I have been trying to gain an understanding of representing a viscoelastic material in abaqus. To do this i have been trying to represent polypropylene using data obtained from creep curves found in literature (attached). To now what i have been doing is the following: Note i am using Abaqus 6.7

In material manager: selecting Elastic-inputting Instantaneous Youngs Modulus, E, Poissons, v, (E=1.8GPa, v=0.4) and setting the moduli time scale to instantaneous. And Viscoelastic-Domain:Time, Time=Creep Test data and inputting Shear Test Data

Modeling heat transfer involving a phase change (ice to water) using Abaqus

Submitted by Marcus Rademacher on

I'm modeling the transient heat transfer of a cooler with an ice pack in it. How does one accurately model the phase change of the water? Here's what I've tried so far:

 1. Added latent heat property to material card. Used Latent heat = 334 kJ/kg, Solidus Temp = 0, Liquidus Temp = 0

Result: Error, Solidus and Liquidus temps cannot be equal

 2. Solidus temp = -0.01, Liquidus temp = 0.01

Result: Analysis ran, but diverged very early in the analysis.

Dear sirs,

I would like to seek your assistanceon using the Abaqus software  .

I am trying to study the stresses inpavement layers , by applying  movingloads caused by vehicles. However I have not been able to get a visualrepresentation of the moving load.

I would like to know how to get acycle of movement , to and fro ...over a period of years .

I shall be grateful if you alsocould send me a similar case on the lines of  Abaqus/CAE truss tutorials .

Dear all,

I'm new to ABAQUS and I was wondering if we could have access to any constitutive equation in ABAQUS and add another stress tensor to the Cauchy stress tensor?

 regards,
