One postdoctoral research associate position is available (dates negotiable). The successful candidate will work on one or multiples of the following topics: mechanics of morphogenesis in plants and embryos, fast motion of plants (e.g., the Venus flytrap's rapid closure), mechanical self-assembly and instability of thin structures (e.g., DNA, plant tendrils, self-assembly of nanostructures, etc.), and bioinspired structures. The candidate should have received (or expect to receive very soon) a Ph.D.

Multiple PhD positions are available for the fall 2012/winter 2013 semesters in microstructure-mechanics relationships for structural materials at high temperatures in the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (http://www.cavs.msstate.edu) at Mississippi State University. The project is funded through Air Force Office for Scientific Research (AFOSR) and will involve multiscale materials characterization, in situ SEM experiments, and high temperature mechanical testing for turbine blade structural materials (nickel-based superalloys).

The research group of Computational Alloy Design at IMDEA Materials Institute (Madrid, Spain) seeks a RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (Postdoctoral Researcher) (PhD Degree in materials/mechanical engineering or physics) to work in the area of mesoscale modeling for steels and smart materials. The selected candidate is expected to develop and validate a mesoscale computational tool using Landau/Phase Field model for modeling the microstructure development and solute redistribution in advanced steels and shape memory alloys under the supervision of a project leader.
