Hi everybody,

I have installed the ANSYS 14 package, All the included softwares are working properly except Fluent.

during start up the following message appears:

Loading "C:\...\lib\fl_s1119.dmp"

done.

No error handler available.

Error encountered in critical code section

Hit return to exit.

Would you please help me with that?

Thank you very much in advance.

Looking forward to your answers

explicit analysis critical time-step Ansys

Submitted by tejas.ruparel on

hello,

I am trying to solve a simple cantilever beam (2D)  in ansys.

I wish to find out the critical time-step that can be used to explicitly solve a transient problem.

I started with modal analysis to determine the maximum natural frequency of the model. I then computed dt < 2/Wmax.

I use this dt with beta = 0.0 and gamma = 0.25 (Newmark parameters). However the solution is unstable.

I am including my apdl script with this post.

Explicit Dynamics with ANSYS LS-DYNA training course

Submitted by kristeen on

This training course covers the ANSYS LS-DYNA Interface, which seamlessly links the ANSYTS traditional environment pre- and post-processing software with the LS-DYNA explicit solver to conduct highly nonlinear, transient dynamic analyses. Sequential solutions are also discussed, in which the ANSYS implicit solver is used in conjunction with the LS-DYNA explicit solver to extend the range of applications.

link 8, introduced tensile curve and compression curve

Submitted by toni on

Hi.

I'm working  with the element link8 (Ansys 12.1) and I have to
introduced the tensile curve and compression curve, but I don't know,
How I have to introduced its???

I have worked with the comands: TB: aniso, miso,..., I think the best
option is: TB, user, but How I have to introduced the values of tensile
and compression curve?, when this are different.

File attachment is the tensile and compression curve to introduce

Thank you, Toni

how to use SHELL 181 element for model light gauge steel lipped channel column in ANSYS

Submitted by shanmugam39510 on

greetings sir.I am doing project COLD ROLLED STEEL lipped channel column
in ANSYS .my question is how to make lipped channel column model by
using shell 181 element or give any other idea to make that model(lipped
channel column)

Is it possible to model nonlinear elasticity in ANSYS with SOLID 18x elements?

Dear all iMechanicians ,

Since several days I am trying to simulate a granular material very similar to sand. The uniaxial compression test performed to the material shows a nonlinear elasticity behavior during the unloading curve.

The goal is to fully reproduce the behavior of the material with a nonlinear elastic model when the material stress-state is inside the yield surface and the plastic behavior with a multilinear isotropic hardening law. The yield surface would be given by the Drucker-Prager-Cap criterion.
