Why shape function is kept orthogonal to residue in Galerkin method?
I have a question regarding the shape functions. Why the shape function is kept orthogonal to residue in Galerkin method? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

i everyone,
I am UG student of Mechanical Engineering. I am a new user of Abaqus and currently working on co-simulation for my final year project. Actually what I am doing is prediction of heat transfer due to fluid flow in a tube of known diameter across which air is flowing, also called as conjugate heat transfer.
I created model in Abaqus/standard named Tube, created part as Tube
Assigned material properties
Hello everyone,
I am a doctorate student working with meshless methods for fluid flow. I would like to attend a summer school or workshops that can enrich my knowledge in FSI and meshless methods for FSI. I would really appreciate if anyone could recommend me a good school around Europe. As far as I have searched I was unable to find courses in the internet.
Thanks for your help,
Regards
Hello,
is there a simple possibility to set a boundary condition to clamp my sheet in Abaqus with a specific stiffness?
Usually you use the "encastre"-boundary condition. But I would like to give this condition a specific stiffness.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance
Dear All
Looking for a methodology to convert shear stress-shear strain data from a torsion test in large deformations into true strain-true stress curve, I found two schools of thought:
and
I found also in recent papers a strong debate on which should be the correct method. For example:
element selection, material property assignment, similar examples would be of great help.
Thanks
Hi
I am trying to model particulate composites and simulate their stress-strain response. The problem that I am facing is that the inclusions (stiffer than the matrix) are only acting as points of stress concentration. Consequently their is no strengthening and hence no apparent increase in load carrying capacity of the composite. Any help/suggestioin in this regard would be higly appreciated.
Regards
Hello every one.
I'm doing work on buckling analysis using abaqus. I want to continue my work on postbuckling of plates also. I'm not getting any tutorials on how to perform Postbuckling analysis of plates using abaqus. When i searched the abaqus help documentation, i got .inp file of a plate, but i didnt get the steps on how to perform the analysis.
I read in some books that after buckling of a plate, it still can take the load. How to do this in abaqus interface ?how to perform the postbuckling analysis in a proper way ?
Plz help
Abaqus Error: The executable C:\SIMULIA\Abaqus\6.9-EF1\exec\standard.exe
aborted with system error code 144.
Please check the .dat, .msg, and .sta files for error messages if the files
exist. If there are no error messages and you cannot resolve the problem,
please run the command "abaqus job=support information=support" to report and
save your system information. Use the same command to run Abaqus that you
used when the problem occurred. Please contact your local Abaqus support
Greetings,
Im writting the the umat coding, and would like call the principal stress by using CALL SPRIND(S.......), im applied my loading with uniaxial compresssion in the x-axis (can be consider in direction 1), and im try to print out the result of S11 and results shows that the bigger value (as experimental results) BUT in the print out principal stress it shows that the compression stress become in the PS(2)?
