We are co-organizing a mini-symposium titled “Physics-Based and Data-Driven Multiscale Modeling of Nano-Materials”, (#318) for the upcoming USNC/TAM 2022, to be held in Austin, Texas, June 19-24, 2022.  

We would like to cordially invite you to submit an abstract to our mini-symposium. The symposium welcomes contributions on machine learning and multiscale modeling applied to nano-materials.

We'd like to invite you to participate in the Minisymposium on "317-Mechanics of Multifunctional Low-dimensional Materials" at the 19th US National Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (USNC/TAM), to be held in Austin, Texas from June 19 to 24, 2022. The deadline for abstract submission is January 31 2022.

One PhD position is available for Fall 2022 in Advanced Multifunctional and Multiphysics Metamaterials Lab (AM³L) in the Department of Bioresource Engineering of McGill University. The research topic is on the area of Architected Mechanical Metamaterials. Theoretical and computational multiscale modelling along with 3D printing and experimental characterization will be conducted for nonlinear and multiphysics analysis of rationally-designed architected materials. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Hamid Akbarzadeh at McGill University. 

The James McCune Smith Scholarships will fund Black UK students to undertake PhD research at the University, and will provide an enhanced experience through external mentors, placements, leadership training, community-building activities and networking opportunities. Shape-changing materials with precisely programmable configurations, each having its own functional regime, provide a wide range of applications in engineering and biomedical fields. Polymers with dynamic reversible covalent/non-covalent bonding feature the potential of having remarkable plasticity, which endows them with the capability of undergoing significant and sophisticated shape changes. Here we report a facile method to build an interpenetrating network (IPN) structure with plastic deformation and shape memory properties.
