Numerical singularity in Abaqus

Submitted by ravitejk4u on

Hi All,

many a times in abaqus, we get numerical singularity warnings. which are mainly due to rigid body motion in one or more directions. This will generally happen when there is contact closing and opening phenomenon is happening.  How can we resolve these numerical singularities? Please post if you have any additional information.

 Thanks and Regards

How to simulate torsion of cylinder in ANSYS?

Submitted by sspadhee on

I want to model torsion of a homogeneous hollow cylinder in ANSYS. I changed to cylindric coordinate system also. But each time I run the program  the result is that of bending. I have attached the mac file and output file for reference. Please advise.

Virtual Heart Surgery

Submitted by ADINA Support on

1. We highlight a study performed by researchers using ADINA in which they investigated a computational approach to construct patient-specific ventricle models based on in vivo cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging for surgical planning and optimization. The study was motivated by the fact that the use of such computational models can help to assess different surgical hypotheses and replace empirical and perhaps risky clinical experimentation. Research associate position at University of Sheffield

Submitted by CanhLe on

The successful candidate will work on the EPSRC funded research project 'Ultimate and permissible limit state behaviour of soil-filled masonry arch bridges', which is being undertaken in collaboration with the University of Salford and various industrial partners (Network Rail, ADEPT, the International Union of Railways and Balfour Beatty Rail). This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the next generation of analysis and assessment techniques for masonry arch bridges, thus helping to ensure a sustainable future for structures that continue to form a vitally important part of the rail and regional road networks of the UK and other countries.

ALE adaptive meshing in ABAQUS.

Submitted by villa7 on

hello all,

I am carrying out a metal forming simulation in ABAQUS using ALE with Explicit solver. I have used plastic properties of material. Though ALE are designed for mesh smoothening advection sweeps (that is ALE is supposed to take care of mesh smoothening); I am facing a problem. ABAQUS gives me an error "excessive element distortion".

code error144 and umat isotropy hardening law

Submitted by lamjuv on

hello everybody
i want to develop a constitutive law for fiber reinforced composite. so i am using umat subroutine to simulate it in abaqus.
when i begin analysis i got error code 144.
my question is: is jacobian matrix DDSDDE can be to cause for this error??

and i read that i can use uhard subroutine for isotropic and combined hardening.
using this subroutine we can get yield surface from hardening curve, so we must enter some value in abaqus^material^(yield stress with corresponding strain)
