ABAQUS:Negative Pressure with “Hard” Pressure-Over Closure
Hi,
I'm using ABAQUS for my research o soil-pile interaction. For the initial modeling of soil-pile interface I have used the "Hard" pressure-over closure relationship. According to the definition negative pressure is not possible with that type of normal contact behavior. But when I check the contact pressure still I can see that negative pressure is applied. What could be the reason?
Thanks,
Thanu
Boundary Conditions in ABAQUS, Phython
hello everyone!
I have a parametric model in ABAQUS. One of the surfaces has many faces and to set a displacement, for example, I need to select all the faces on this surface. One of the ways to pick them is to use faces.findAt(), but the problem is that there are over 100 faces on this surface and I don't know their coordinates because I used "random" function to create them. Do you know how can I specify the region? I've tried to pick the whole surface instead but I couldn't...

advanced ansys tutorials
Hello to all,
Iam in desperate need of advanced tutorials of ansys in non linear field. Can anybody if having please mail me to contactkirthan [at] gmail.com (contactkirthan[at]gmail[dot]com).

USNCCM-11 Minisymposium " Advances in Understanding Interface Mechanics"
Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 25-29, 2011.
Deadline for abstract submission: Januray 31, 2011.
This symposium (11.4) will address the use of new computational techniques (from atomic to continuum scale) to uncover fundamental science in materials interfaces and their role in mechanical properties. Theoretical and computational advances as well as the application of existing methods to new cases where interface information is important (e.g. nanograined materials) are in the scope of this session. Areas of interest include but are not limited to:
Varying material properties spatially in ABAQUS
Hi,
In an ABAQUS 2D-planar model, is it possible to vary the material properties spatially, say defining modulus (E) as a function of coordinates, E = f(x,y)? One way is to use *DISTRIBUTION feature, but that allows variation based on element-sets and does not allow varying the material properties as function of coordinates. If anyone has solved this or similar problem kindly suggest.
Thank you

umat isotropic hardening law
hello everybody
i want to ask when i use isotropic hardening law in umat abaqus. i used uhard subroutine.
my question can be so simple.
how we will enter plasticity values in abaqus. i think in user material after other constant we enter them like this
for exemple:
props(1) young
props(2) poisson ratio
props(3) strain value for the curve maybe 0
props(4) corresponding yield stress value
props(5) other strain value
......
.....
is this right???
thank`s in advance

Hierarchical analysis of the fracture toughness enhancement of carbon nanotube- (CNT-) reinforced hard matrix composites is carried out on the basis of shear-lag theory and facture mechanics.
Contact issues in abaqus
Hi All,
I am dealing with contact problems. Can you please post if you have any information on how to resolve the general contact problems.
thanks and Regards,
