Crystal Plasticity

Submitted by Mubeen on

I am interested in the computational crystal plasticity (elastic-viscoplastic models), and I intend to start working in this area. Therefore, I am looking for some review papers--

1- which provide an overview of the state-of-art in this area (a summary of the recognised single crystal plasticity models).

2- about the application of single crystal plasticity using micromechanics based  multiscale FEM for the prediction of texture evolution.

I will be very thankful if sombody can answer these queries.

Abaqus CPT with cohesion.

Submitted by incarnation.adi on

Hi all...

I am new to abaqus. I have to model cone penetration test (CPT) in abaqus.

I am using drucker prager plasticity and hardening to model the soil.

The cohesion (d) decreases as plastic strain increases. But how do i input this into the model ?

Drucker prager hardening inputs have yield stress and plastic strain columns.

So from cohesion, how do i get the yield stress values ?

ENTROPY

I want to what exactly entropy means???I know the definition and formula but still not getting the physical significance. When we say temperature we can understand and feel it.But,in case of entropy each time I read about it I don't get it.Can anybody explore it's significance in easy way so that i can understand what exactly entropy means?

Tiaxiality in unit cell calculation

Submitted by Mohamed H.Miloud on

Dear imechanica Members,

I want to make a comparison between the results of a calculation of unit cell model and Gurson but I have a little problem on the triaxiality.
How to use the Riks algorithm in AbaqusCAE that the triaxiality remains constant during the loading of a unit cell?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards

Fracture initiation in NiTi

Submitted by Jim S. Olsen on

Hi!

I am investigating the effect of triaxial stress state on the superelastic behavior in NiTi. In this regard I have conducted some simple tensile tests on notched specimen until fracture. The next step is to investigate the fracture surfaces in SEM to determine point of initiation and the structures. However, as my knowledge in fractography is limited at best, I am not really sure what to look for to determine eg. fracture initiation.

Lectures on Soft Active Materials, 2nd edition

Submitted by Zhigang Suo on

In May 2008, I posted 3 lectures on Soft Active Materials given at UCSB.  I have since given similar lectures on other occasions, but never all three at the same place.  The field has been active.  The lectures have been updated with new items.  I’m now posting the “2nd edition” of these lectures.

  • Dielectric elastomers
  • Neutral gels
  • Polyelectrolyte gels
  • pH-sensitive gels

The slides are posted as delivered.  No effort is made to eliminate repeating slides.
