Shape Memory Polymer FEM Ansys

Submitted by Michel on

Hello everyone,

I hope to find an answer to my problem in this forum.

I'm working on the finite element model of a SMP in order to predict the recovery shape after heating. I'm in trouble about the material properties of this kind of polymer. I run tensile stress test, DMA and TMA in order to characterise the material. However I didn't succeed to write the good command in Ansys to get a shape memory effect.

Does anyone of you has knowledges about SMP ?

Thank you very much,

Michel

Reduce dof's in FEM

Choose a channel featured in the header of iMechanica

Hi

  I have MDOF equation:

                MX"+CX'+KX = F(t).

Say the order of each matrix is  nXn. I want to reduce the order of the matrices.

I will find the eigen vectors and get modal vectors matrix phi. I will pick some dominating frequencies say around 24 modes.

then reducedM = phi'*M*phi.

As you may know wave propagation in circular cylinders is dispersive. As shown by Pochhammer, there

could be several different modes propagating in an infinite cylinder with

different wave speeds. I'm modeling wave propagation in a finite 3D circular cylinder in

Co-op for PhD student

Submitted by aschmidt on

Colleagues,

I'd like to check if there are any good resources or ways to find additional co-op for a PhD student which will supplement current research in material science and optimization problems related to plastic deformation of sheet metals? More info about my area of research can be found at http://www.alexschmidt.net/research/default.htm and my CV http://alexschmidt.net/research/aschmidt_cv.txt

How can I apply concentrated load on internal nodes?

Submitted by mrahjoo on

Hello All

I have a problem in which I have to apply concentrated load on the internal nodes in specific directions.

Is it possible to apply concentrated load on internal nodes (nodes which are not on the boundary) in Abaqus, or any other FEM software?

Is it possible to for exampleuse static condensation method and define subdomains in the body and apply concentrated loads on theoundaries of an arbitrary domain?

I would be thankful if you could help me.

Effect of geometric parameters on the stress distribution in Al 2024-T3 single-lap bolted joints

Submitted by Payam Soltani on

By: M. Keikhosravi, RH Oskouei, Payam Soltani, A. Atas, C. Soutis

Purpose - The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of geometric variables on the stress and strain distributions as well as non-linear deformation behaviour of aluminium alloy 2024-T3 single-lap bolted joints loaded in tension.

Free FEM-pack development for everybody

Submitted by r.pochinkov on

Dear All! If it will be interesting
for you please look at my FEM-pack FASTRAN. This software was developed for
dynamic analysis of the thin-walled shell-type structures and includes:
preprocessor (only for view early-developed FEM-models), processor (fast sparse
solver) and postprocessor (for view calculation results). Your opinion will be
very interesting for me.

Fellowships and Ph.D. position available: Analysis and modeling of the mechanical behavior of 3D nanoparticles superstructures

Submitted by AlbertoBarone on

Colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) form a family of highly advanced building blocks suitable for large scale assembly of novel high-complexity 1D-to-3D superstructures. Their properties and inter-particle interactions, nowadays, can be highly controlled by tailoring their size, shape, composition and surface functionalization.
