Symposium 1: Mathematical issues in multiscale materials modeling
Hello from Adelaide, Australia. I'm at the IUTAM Congress. The big news today: the 2012 IUTAM Congress will be held in Beijing. The Chinese delegates made a brilliant bidding. Among promised items are good food, low registration fee (which will pay for all lunches), National Conference Center in the Olympic Village, and a tour to the Great Wall (which is also included in the registration fee). So start planning for the trip.
The 7th International Conference on Fatigue Damage of Structural Materials will be held in Hyannis, Mass., USA, 14-19 September. Hyannis is situated 80 mi/130 km from Boston's Logan International Airport and is easily reached either by car or by public transport.

In December 2006 the ASME Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) Executive Committee approved a new technical committee, Committee on Fluid-Structure Interaction (CFSI). The CFSI is sponsoring 6 mini-symposia within Track 12 "Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Fluids" of the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress, in Boston, October 31 - November 6, 2008.
