cohesive zone modeling of interface fracture : comparisons

Submitted by Laurent Champaney on

Hello,

(for completing R. Huang's post : node/7396).

A  few years ago, some colleages (from Italy, UK and Brazil) and I proposed some comparisons of the behavior of cohesize zone models. This was presented during ECCM 2004. The paper is attached.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSITANT – HYBRID SOLAR PANEL The Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University seeks applications for a position as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. A Postdoctoral Research Assistant is a junior level research position and works under the supervision of a faculty member in the department.  As a postdoctoral research assistant the incumbent will work to further the research of the laboratory, and occasionally may be asked to supervise student projects related to the research and other topics within the scope of the group.

element eroding VS fracture mechanics

Submitted by NewerLi on

Hi everyone,

I am not a student majoring in the mechanics. But I have found that: the element eroding method is so powerful in numerical simulation (i.e. using ls-dyna) if we reduce the mesh size, then we can get a very perfect fracture process of material. So why we need fracutre mechanics?

Shape memory alloy material models including plasticity implemented in ABAQUS

Submitted by Jim S. Olsen on

I am working with shape memory alloys (nitinol), and am in that respect investigating fracture behaviour of NiTi, using, among other things, simulations in ABAQUS. ABAQUS doesn't have a material model that include plasticity unless you pay for it. I am wondering if anyone have implemented either of the following models as a UMAT, and if you are willing to share the code with me.

The models I am interested in are:

Stress fields for finite crack in an infinite plate under tension

Submitted by vinay kumar B A on

hi...

I am working on cracks emanating from a hole,  using Complex
stress potential method.  Now i have obtained the Stress Intensity
Factor ( SIF ) and now i want to plot the stress field or stress
contours. please guide me how i can get stress field.

Thanking you.

Yours Sincerely

Stress fields for finite crack in an infinite plate under tension

Submitted by vinay kumar B A on

hi.

I am working on " crack emanating from a circular hole in anisotropic medium".  now i got the K1 ( SIF`s) using complex stress potential method. Now i want to represent the results in the form of stress field around the crack.

i am unable to find the stress field around this crack.

i request you to hint the procedure to plot the stress fields.

thanking you.

Yours Sincerely

vinay.
