Static Load in ABAQUS Explicit

Submitted by MitsosOSougias on

Hello,

I have to do a simulation with two loads, a constant static load and a dynamic load that rapidly decreases. What is the best way to handle this? Should I create two steps one for the static load and one for the dynamic load and let the static load propagate, or should I just have one step where the static loas acts instantly and the dynamic follows an aplitude?

The problem with the two step idea is that when I create the static load as static, I cannot get the choice of Dynamic/Explicit on the creation of the next step.

Any ideas

ABAQUS - Problem concerning "concrete damaged plasticity" model

Submitted by montero on

Hi all,

I'm trying to solve a frame structure in ABAQUS. I'm using 3D beam elements (B31) so that shear and bending stresses may appear. This is ok for an elastic analysis, but I also want to perform a failure analysis of this frame. Therefore, I'm trying to use the "concrete damaged plasticity" material in ABAQUS.  But I've read in the manual I can't use B31 elements with this material.

Does anyone know how to combine the "concrete damaged plasticity" material in a 3D beam analysis? Any other suggestions?

Surface Based Fluid Cavities, and inflators

I've been tasked with creating a 3D model of a demo inflatable
structure here in our lab. The goal is to inflate it in ABAQUS, and I
have been making some progress in using the *FLUID CAVITY keyword.
However I'm noticing odd things in my results. I have the pressure of
the gas increase to 4psi in a tabular form, however as I watch the
frame by frame, the stress concentrations on the structure vary oddly,
and the model deforms oddly. Almost as if it was a ball being pressed
back and forth against the floor, expand contract, that kind of deal.

Mohr-Coulomb Shell in Abaqus. Help!

Hi,

I am new to Abaqus and I am trying to use it to model some industrial shells. According to some preliminar studies, the material has a mohr-coulomb plastic behaviour. Thus, I wanted to use shell elements, with a mohr-coulomb plastic material, but it seems that it is not possible in Abaqus.

According to the theoretical manual and the user manual (18.3.3-6):

Hello colleagues,

Iam trying to model load test on board pile. I have already a model which is working but not as I need. I think the interaction between pile and soil is not correctly defined. Has someone an experience with this issue.? How I should define the interaction between soil and pile?

How to rectify an Element error in Abaqus?

Submitted by anilathampy on

when trying to submit a model for analysis i recieve an error as follows

1200 elements have missing property definitions. The elements have been identified in element set ErrElemMissingSection.

Error in job 4: Analysis Input File Processor exited with an error.

Job 4 aborted due to errors.

I have defined the material and then seeded it and defined the element before meshing it.I have also tried defining the element before defining the material and still get the same error.
