(CSML) in the Division of Physical Sciences and Engineering at King Abdullah University of

Science and Technology (KAUST). Candidates with experience in one or more of the following

My name is Nguyen Vinh Phu, a PhD student at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. I have been working with Prof. Bert Sluys on a project named "Coarse graining of failure in heterogeneous solids" since July 2007. I am finishing my work and therefore seeking for a postdoctoral position starting after July 2011.

My expertise in computational solid mechanics includes

(1) Finite elements, extended finite elements and meshless methods.

We are
looking for a Postdoctoral fellow to strengthen our
Research Training Group 1462 Model Qualities that
consists of 12 PhD students. This is a fixed-term position for a
period of one year. A renewal for a further year is possible.

Description

We have an immediate opening for an outstanding post-doctoral fellow in our Multiscale Mechanics& Physics (MMP) Laboratory.  We are broadlyinterested in the fundamental physics and mechanics of nano/bio materials andtheir applications in innovative nano/bio devices. The focus of our current projects include: (i) nanoscale transport phenomena in pharmaceutical, biomedical and biologicalsystems, (ii) mechanics of nanodefects and their applications in engineering nanodevices,(iii) multifunctional and advanced materials for structural applications.

Two PhD studentships of three years duration are available Department of
Civil and Structural Engineering and the Department of Mechanical
Engineering at the University of Sheffield sponsored by the Leverhulme
Trust.

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates an opening for a postdoctoral associate starting September 2010. The position’s primary area of research will focus on mechanics of the microforming processes and characterizing the thermomechanics of deformation at micrometer length-scales.

The group of Mechanics of Solids and Structures at the  University of

Brescia is seeking two candidates for Ph.D. positions. The appointment

is starting on January 1st 2011, application deadline Sept. 15th 2010.



The research topics involve: computational dynamics of solids with

reference to ground motion simulation due to seismic input, multiscale

computational fracture mechanics and discrete dislocation mechanics.
