how to set the absolute contact stiffness when considering cohesive zone material (CZM)property

Submitted by Liming Jiang on

I'm simulating the interface between a steel plate and the fire proof coatings covering the steel plate. The elements i use in the simulation is contact 173 with a material property of debonding, which is defined as cohesive zone model.(CZM)

CZM in ansys provides  TBDATA such as maximum contact stress, contact at the completion of debonding, but what's the problem is that I failed to set the initial contact stiffness. it's true that ansys provides FKN to define the contact stiffness, but it's just a stiffness factor.

cantilever column

Submitted by hany_333 on

hello all,

i modeled a cantilever column with eccentric loading to simulate half of ordinary column, i get a small displacement at cantilever tip (equals 1/3 of reality,) so i want ahelp a bout updating geometry during analysis in order to getting effect of second order/nonlinear effects due to eccentric load.my software is ANSYS

thanks for all,

ANSYS VISCOELASTIC MODELING

Hi,

I am trying to model a sheet of Poly Vinyl Butryl (PVB), which is a viscoelastic material in ANSYS. I have all the regular properties like elastic, shear and bulk modulus, poisson ratio, denstiy and damping factor. I also have a stress- strain curve of PVB. With all this data, is it possible for me to find the various constants in the viscoelastic models using ANSYS?

 Thanks

Saurabh

Cyclic thermal load

Submitted by Jessi on

I need to apply cyclic thermal load on a layered structure and want to see the stress generated and structural displacement using Ansys. How can I apply cyclic thermal load? iI tried to use Load Step Opts. Since I am interested only in stress-displacemnt, I used structural element. But if i use structural element, it doesn't give me Time/frequency option under load Step. Do i need to use coupled element? Is there any other way to apply cyclic thermal load to see stress-displacement? Thanks!
