Strain energy release rate of double cantilever beam using VCCT

Hi,

I am very new to ABAQUS and struggling to evaluate strain energy release rate (G) in Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) usin Virtual Crack Closure Technique(VCCT). what are all the input criteria should provided to obtain G. Actually i want to get G directly  with out calculating using Force and Displacement. 

Please help me on this.... 

higher order FE-Beam elements: Transformation Matrix

Hi all,

My question is about this transformation matrix T for beam elements using 3 or more nodes (quadratic or higher formulation).

When
programming beam elements in 2D or 3D one usually formulates the shape
functions etc. in ‘local’ beam coordinates (e.g. x’). So the beam stiffness matrix
will be formulated using this local coordinate system. For assembly of the ‘global’
system one transforms this local matrix to global coordinates using a
transformation matrix T.

Shape Memory Polymer FEM Ansys

Hello everyone,

I hope to find an answer to my problem in this forum.

I'm working on the finite element model of a SMP in order to predict the
recovery shape after heating. I'm in trouble about the material
properties of this kind of polymer. I run tensile stress test, DMA and
TMA in order to characterise the material. However I didn't succeed to
write the good command in Ansys to get a shape memory effect.

Does anyone of you has knowledges about SMP ?

How to find the average temperature a surface? ABAQUS -Heat transfer -user subroutine

I want to model a concrete slab with a void inside the concrete. It is a thermal analyse where I apply a heat flux to the bottom surface. Within the void heat is transferred by radiation and convection. For simulating heat convection within the void, I use the surface film condition function in interaction module. I have to define the film coefficient and sink temperature. I decided to use the average temperature of the void surface for sink temperature. I don’t know how to define the average surface temperature. I think I have to use Abaqus Subroutine.

Dear all

I'm trying to write ABAQUS subroutine for creep.

 I read ABAQUS help and documents about
this subroutine but it explained briefly about editing subroutine. In addition,
it said nothing about how to link it to software.

I really appreciate it if anybody can help me by telling more about
creep subroutine
or introduce a websites which can help me by some examples.

Tention Coupon testing

Hi ,

I am trying to develop material model for cyclic loading by doing a cyclic loading test on a tention coupon.

It is a strain control test.The strain cycles of 10 cycles are applied at (2%,5%,6%,8%) rate.

The problem is that I want to apply this strain rate to the middle gauge length of tention coupon.

But in abaqus I can apply this load as a displacement load only at one end of tention coupon.

IS there any option is abaqus where I can change the displacement load at one end according to the strain variation in the gauge length

Reduce dof's in FEM

Hi 

  I have MDOF equation:

                MX"+CX'+KX = F(t).

 Say the order of each matrix is  nXn. I want to reduce the order of the matrices. 

I will find the eigen vectors and get modal vectors matrix phi. I will pick some dominating frequencies say around 24 modes.

then reducedM = phi'*M*phi.

cylindrical shell with part-through crack modeling using ANSYS

i'm student and studying fracture mechanics.

now, i have some problems. i want to analyze the cylindrical shell with part-through crack using J-integral. I knew that this method needs radius shape at the crcktip. i tried it. But, this is very difficult to model when i modeled  quarter. So, i needs your help. is there any different way to model this?
