Hello everybody.

I am trying to use abaqus software to model the sliding of a metallic pile inside a metallic sleeve. I have tried doing this with the translator connector, but I always get the message that 2 regions in the model are not connected. Can anybody help me with some hints as to how to use the connector, or if there are any other ways to model the sliding?

Dear Engineers,

I am Master degree student and I am trying to determine Young's Modulus of Hybrid Composite.

Since I don't have any material properties in detail of each part of mentioned composite, I chose an experimental method which is Tensile test with MTS machine to determine Young's Modulus. The major problem which I have faced in this procedure is that due to the limitation on my sample, I can just prepare specimen for determining transverse Young's Modulus in accordance ASTM standard for geometrical dimensions.

UMAT Multi-element Error

Submitted by nibalog on

Hello All:

I have written a UMAT code to predict the viscoelastic behaviour within a
shape adaptive structure. I have followed similar steps used in Abaqus
subroutine manual, I have applied this UMAT to a single quad element and
it works as predicted. But when I apply it multiple elements model it
breaks down.

Is there any special command i need to put in UMAT subroutine to account
multi element analysis? I will appreciate all related comments,

hi

i need to define bubble load in ABAQUS.

but there is some paramaters as explosion charge properties should be defined.

for example Charge material constant, K.  or  Ratio of specific heats for gas  or   Density of charge material.

how can i find these properties for any exlposion charge eg. TNT ?

i appreciate your help

XFEM Damage Evolution fracture parameters

I am trying to model and centre crack inclined at 45 deg angle under uniaxial compression under mixed mode I and II. I am using Abaqus 6.12SE but I'm stuck with Damage Evolution parametres: I chose Damage for Traction Separation Laws, Maxps; Damage Evolution Type = Energy; Mixed bode behaviour = Power Law with power value 1; Now at the bottom what should be the input values of Normal Mode Fracture Energy, Shear Mode Fracture Energy 1st direction and Shear Mode Fracture Energy 2nd Direction. I need help asap. Thanks all.

Abaqus - warning message: c3d4h elements will enforce vol .... use *tie

Submitted by MartinV_hfu on

Dear iMechanica-User,

i habe  a general question according to Abaqus. I'm dealing with an biom. model of the breast and i  created the mesh with the toolbox iso2mesh (matlab) / c3d4h elements - each element has it's own youngs modulusand is therefore defined as singel solid section (per element), but all elements use the same node-list. Simulation is done by compression of the breast using two plates.

So here is the problem: i always get the warning message:

Abaqus Concrete Damaged Plasticity Model

Submitted by giuliozani on

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to simulate the structural behavior of High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete specimens by means of the Concrete Damaged Plasticity Model.

My constitutive relation is represented by a multilinear law, with a nonlinear pre-peak followed by a softening branch.
