Determining Young' Modulus of Hybrid Composite

Submitted by Amin Khajeh on

Dear Engineers,

I am Master degree student and I am trying to determine Young's Modulus of Hybrid Composite.

Since I don't have any material properties in detail of each part of mentioned composite, I chose an experimental method which is Tensile test with MTS machine to determine Young's Modulus. The major problem which I have faced in this procedure is that due to the limitation on my sample, I can just prepare specimen for determining transverse Young's Modulus in accordance ASTM standard for geometrical dimensions.

The question is that , is there any numerical equations which calculate Longitudinal Young's Modulus based on Transverse Young'Modulus?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

With best regards.

hi, i think the problem is that the
Hybrid Composite is anisotropic material.

so if you want to  get the Longitudinal Young's Modulus you'd better make a test. i don't know any equations to solve the special or this kind problem.

good luck!
