making a cluster out of 6 computers for abaqus analysis

Hi everybody,

I have 6 desktop computers with the following specifications (all of them are the same):

CPU: 2 GHz, 2 cores, 8 Hyper Threading

RAM: 12 Gb

HDD: 500 Gb

Windows 7 (which I need to change to Windows Server with HPC pack)

I need to connect them together and make a cluster for abaqus analysis. I'm thinking about using Microsoft HPC pack since it seems to be an easy and user friendly option (I don't have any experience in that area).

UMAT Dr Huang's Crystal Plasticity Code: help

Dear all,

I want to implement Dr Huang's code for polycrystals. I am stuck at two issues. 

 

1. How do we define the orientation to each grain separately in the code ? (I believe we need to do it in texture.txti ?)  I am not able to understand the texture.txti file.

2. What else would be different for a polycrystal CP umat implementation?

 

I apologize if my doubts are too basic. Please assist.

ABAQUS VUMAT in explicit

Hi everyone,

My VUMAT works well in 1 or 4 element tests in explicit, but behave odd (displacement continuing to increase though load was kept constant) when larger number of elements are applied. Is there anyone know the reason of the odd phenonmenon? Thanks.

It works well for tests in implicit no matter how many elements are applied.

Problem rotating spur gears ANSYS WB

Hi everyone, I'm making a research related to spur gear.

Basically the model consist in two gears. My problem is that they did not rotate doesn't matter what I make. So far my model is defined:

Contact-> Frictionless -> Augmented Lagrange

                Two revolute joints defined with the internal face of the gears. 

Applied moment on one joint, and revolutions in the other one. (I also tried just putting the moment and leave the other one without any rotation).

Please anyone help me to answer these questions.

1. Justify if a stick of different length (same mass) is easier to be balanced with your hand with longer or shorter lengths. Calculation of inertia. Justify with calculations.

 

2. Definition of DOF and calculate them for a basic suspension, like double wishbone. Identify all the joints used.
