Hi all,

I am simulating an excavation problem using the ALE method. If I rerun exactly the same input file only changing the duration of the last (long) step and compare results of the two analyses at the same analysis time I get significantly different results (e.g. up to 20% different settlements). I have tried changing the last step duration and I get different results again. How can this be? I am really worried about this behaviour!

Hello everyone, I am using ABAQUS to study the tangential behavior (friction) at the interface between rock-machine. I know tangential behaivour simualtion is key for my model, I read the manual, but still have some puzzels, hoping you could help me, much appreciated in advance!

1. what's the difference among mechanical constraint formulation of penalty contact method (another is kinetic), friction formulation of penalty for tangential behavior, and  constraint enforcement method of penalty for normal behavior. the explanation in manual seems ambiguous for me.

I am beginner in abaqus and I want to write a VUMAT for VIB method to simulate fracture, while writing VUMAT i encountered following problems 

1) For 2D plane stress problem how to calculate strainInc(*,3). It is increment for that step or value of strain till that step?

2) What is effect of that defination on answer I am getting?

How can I put the mass on Buttock tissue in ABAQUS?

I want to model an embankment on a soil. First I analysed the soil  without the embankment in the geostatic step; then a should added two layers representing the embankemnt construction stages.

How can add a layers and run it after the geostatic step??

    I am a new abaqus python scripting user. I am working parametric study on  Plate with perforations with free meshed technique. I used :myNodes = allNodes.getByBoundingBox(xmin, ymin, zmin, xmax, ymax, zmax) for selecting nodes  but how can it be for selecting  the closest one node  to specific node which has (x,y,z)? please help

What are the most important modeling techniques and Abaqus options to use to accurately predict collapse of rubber hose having  vacuum loading?  I am currently using Hyperelastic (nonlinear) material data and Hybrid formulation elements.  What other techniques and options are recommended?  The hose geometry typically has one or more bends and a constant material thickness (±5%).  To keep it simple, the material is isotropic and one type such as EPDM (so, not multi-layer).

Hi I'm new in abaqus, I'm trying to make a coupled temp-displacement analysis with abaqus, but I cant fix an initial velocity in the predefined field in the inital step (I mean I can, but it doesn't work during the calculations), I already did the same thing with dynamic implicit analysis and it worked good
