Total and updated Lagrangian formulations

Submitted by kajalschopra on

We know that for non-linear finite element analysis, we generally have 2 formulations:

1)Total Lagrangian formulation

2)Updated Lagrangian formulation

In the Total Lagrangian the refernce frame at t=0 is used i.e. all the integrations are carried out using the original volume and surface area and the sterss measures generally used include the Second Piolla and Green Lagrangian strain

Anisotropic plasticity

Submitted by Intissar on

Hello!

i have a problem with abaqus with the message error "too many attempts made for this increment" : mu model consists od analyzing the effect of plastic anisotropy in  deep drawing process .I can't find the cause of the problem ,or any thing on wich i can actin order to make things work.Could anyone help me please !!

Thanks in advance!

Strain calculation in ABAQUS

Hello,

I have some troubles in calculating the strain in ABAQUS. I have the following Model with one element (see picture) and a linear elastic isotropic Material (Steel), which is sheared in the x-direction. The analytical result of the strain tensor gives me in xz-direction 0.25 (see picture). The result in ABAQUS is 0.5. I ran the same simulation in CalculiX CrunchiX and got the expected strain of 0.25 in the xz-direction

Can anyone tell me how ABAQUS calculates the strain for a linear static analysis? Why is the ABAQUS result exactly 50% higher?

Abaqus - How to apply initial conditions as plastic strain?

Submitted by bilou563 on

I m trying to apply to apply plastic strains initial conditions in Abaqus as you can see below :

** ----------------------------------------------------------------
*Initial Conditions, type=PLASTIC STRAIN
test_elements, 0.338, -0.276, -0.0618, 0.0447
**
** STEP: Step-1

This part of code works in case of Stresses but not for plastic strains... The calculation presents no errors, abaqus runs but when i check the results, it doesnt consider my plastic strain...
