Total energy in ABAQUS

I am working on the orthogonal machining of Ti alloys using ABAQUS F.E package. I am carrying out an explicit dynamic temp-disp problem. My doubt being on what parameters does the Total energy of the analysis depend upon. Any help would be appreciated.
