Can I change my user name?

Submitted by Managers on

Yes. After you log in, click "my account" at the top left corner, and then click "edit".

Your user name will appear every time you post an entry. Consequently, you may want to use your full name, case sensitive and with spacing. For example, you may prefer a user name like Jane W. Smith to a strange looking user name like janewsmith.

Why should you add your photo to your profile and how?

Your photo and your full name (if you use your full name as your user name) will appear every time you post an entry in iMechanica. On clicking your photo or your name, a fellow mechanician will land on your profile.

Unlike most online communities, iMechanica complements a vibrant community already existing offline: the international community of mechanics. Many iMechanicians know each other personally or would love to. Some become life-long friends.

How do I know if a comment is a reply to the original blog or to another comment?

Submitted by Managers on

The comments that are replies to particular comments will be indented immediately below the comment to which they are replying. That way, by seeing how the comments are indented, you can identify who replied to which comment and be able to follow the different conversations online.

Where does my comment go if I reply to someone's comment?

Submitted by Managers on

Your comment will be attached to the original blog posting. Other users, including the person to whom you replied, can see your reply only if they go to the original blog posting. Just as a regular comment, it will not appear anywhere on your own profile nor on the commenter's profile. It is only attached to the original blog posting.

When we say reply, we mean in particular clicking on the link that says "reply" below someone's comment.

How will people see my comments on other user’s blogs?

Submitted by Managers on

Your comment will only be attached to the original blog posting. It will not leave any trace in your own profile. The only way a third person can see the comment on a blog will be for that person to look at the original blog and its attached comments, not by navigating through your profile. However, links to recent comments also get posted on the right side column, so check that column to see if anyone posted on your blog.
