Dear All,

I am a mechanical engineer by education. This is just a research question. I was seeing a diesel generator employing an old mahindra tractor engine the other day and started wondering if a Maruti 800 engine would be able to work a 10 KVA generator, and wouldnt it be more fuel effecient (and cheaper to make) then one of the generators using an old diesel engine. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mapped Meshing of thin cylinders in Ansys

Submitted by Aabhas Sharma on

Hi,

I am unable to map mesh a thin cylinder for analysis in Ansys. Can someone please guide me how to do the same. The program shows the error that the area is irregular and hence cant be mapmeshed. I am using the option of creating a hollow cylinder. What should be my approach?

Convergence of buckling solution to theoretical solution in Ansys..

Submitted by Aabhas Sharma on

Hi,

I am performing buckling analysis on a hollow cylinder in Ansys. BUt the problem i'm facing is that the solution obtained via Eigenvalue buckling in Ansys is not matching with my solution obtained theoretically using equations. I have tried it for various mesh densitites but am unable to find the problem in my analysis. Please help

Hi,

I am trying to simulate lamb wave propagation in steel plates using Ansys. I am completely new to this and would really appreciate any guidance with regards to examples or tutorials, speicifically for this problem. I know and am using the general tutorials out there. Thanks in advance for your help.

ANSYS FSDT element

Submitted by Joao Machado on

Hi!

I need some help regarding the use of ANSYS.

I want to compare some results for static and buckling analisys of plates I got using Navier and Galerkin methods with the results given by ANSYS. My problem is that, as you know, one has to choose the element type. I need to use an element that corresponds First-Order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT).

Can anyone tell what elements corresponds to FSDT in ANSYS???

Or tell what book to search or send a link or anything that could help please?

hello everybody:

i am trying to do a project on load controlled cyclic test. By using the Sin wave, i want to define the load.

If i want to define the load range to be 100 to 1000 how can i define the amplitude?

Also, as come to the platic deformation, do i need to give any criterion or anything particular?

thanks

anyone has some idear can you send to xiaojiao_yu [at] brown.edu?
