how to use mesh constraint in corners which are the intersects of eulerian and lagrangian regions?

Submitted by AmirAshy on

hi

I am interesting to use of mesh constraint in eulerian analysis of metal cutting. I use of eulerian surfaces in inflow and outflow of model. but when i use  mesh constraint in inflow and outflow nodes the nodes in corner of model where the eulerian and lagrangain regions intersect each other is known nonadaptive. how to use of mesh constraint to this nodes???

what is the best mesh constraint angle for this model ? because this is one of other errors.

Disparity in Simple Shear solution in ABAQUS

Dear All,

We tried to simulate simple shear using ABAQUS and compared it with the analytical solution. To our surprise, even though the equivalent stress and strain matched perfectly, the component stress and strain had a large deviation between the semi analytical and ABAQUS methods. The zero components in the analytical model were calculated to be non-zero in the results of ABAQUS. This paradox could not be understood clearly as whether it is a case of software deficiency or conceptual error. A COMPLETE ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM IS ATTACHED AS A REPORT.

Mode II strain energy release rate

Hello guys,

I have a silly question. We all know that mode II strain energy release rate was given as GII=KII^2/E for linear elastic material. My question is why E (Young's modulus) but not G (shear modulus) appears in the equation, because Mode II crack propagation is attributed to the shear stress. On the other hand, it seems self-explanatory that we use E for mode I and G for Mode III.

I just wonder if there is a simple explanation to that.

Heat Exchanger analysis using ABAQUS

Submitted by indiarahuliit on

Hello to everyone

I am doing B.Tech. from the IIT Roorkee(India).

I want to model and analyse a borehole heat exchanger using ABAQUS.

Unfortunately I am a beginner in ABAQUS.

It will be really helpful if someone could give me a tutorial regarding a similar topic (heat transfer analysis).

I would be deeply grateful for any help.

thanks a lot in advance

Problems with cohesive zone. Does it make sence to use them here?

Hey I've got a beam and between two different materials i'm thinking to
put a cohesive zone with "weaker" material properties. Does it make
sense to use cohesive zone models?

My model is looking like this now. But I don't know what's wrong. It
seems taht the whole force/displacement is lost in the cohesive zone.

If somebody can help that would be very nice

I’m studing Multiscale Finite Element Methods recently。But I find it diffcult to read the book——Multiscale Finite Element
Methods Theory and Applications, which by Yalchin Efendiev,Thomas Y. Hou。Anyone have some program codes about Multiscale Finite Element Methods ?How to couple the corsa mesh and fine mesh? Thanks!

[Dynamics] Ultrasonic Welding of thermoplastics

Submitted by farchee500 on

I am going to simulate the well-known welding process i.e.
ultrasonic welding process for thermoplastics using ANSYS. I am using ABS first
of all. My sample dimensions are 30*40*1 and one of these two parts will be
having an energy director of triangular shape at its centre with an overall
thickness of 1.5 being equally distributed from the centre.

The parts to be welded are placed on the anvil and after
proper fixturing, ultrasonic vibrations are applied at the upper part under a
pressure of 2.0775E6.
