ABAQUS and Soil nailing wall question

Submitted by copernic on
Hi Dear,

Actually I am new in ABAQUS and due to my project have to start modeling Soil nailing wall through ABAQUS. My problem is I want to model soil and wall as shell 2D and nails as wire. However I can not define any interaction or contact between wire and soil. also I attach a copy of ABAQUS file here:

I highly appreciate if you can take a look at ABAQUS model and let me know what can I do to figure this out?

A question in ABAQUS

Submitted by ebrahimhashemi8 on

hi,i have a question about my simulation with ABAQUS .i simulate an adobe panel, i modeled mortar joints with interface elements with zero thickness and defined cohesion in bed joints between adobes that defined as continium elements.for stiffness(Knn,Kss,Ktt) i choose  default.my question is how much is stiffness in default or what is it's algoritm.

Problem for MAT 155 IN LS DYNA

Submitted by luckboat on

recently, I use MAT_155 for ICE modeling. which was established by NASA.

The material parameter of mat 155 comes from the literature "A High strain

rate model with failure for ice in LS DYNA". And my product is an ice

plate impacting on a concrete column.

But something is wrong in my simulation. The result of the ice plate

shows that, there is only X-stress, Y-strees and Z-stress. and they are

all equal. But the XY-stress,  XZ-stress, YZ-stress, are zero. The feature

ABAQUS Modelling of Wrapped Cylinders

Hi all,

I am modelling a cylindrical concrete beam with woven roving glass fabric and I need help on how to model the same.

I have done the analysis of the plain model and validation was also successful, but in case of wrapped member model the results are not acceptable. The maximum strength of the wrapped member is coming out to be similar to the plain analytical model.

I have created two cylindrical sections, one of concrete and the other of the fabric and I have defined a Tie Contact between them.

Is there any other way I can go to model this.

Using OpenSees!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Dear all,

I am considering using OpenSees software in plane strain SSI analysis under cyclic loading. I have understood, roughly, how the structure of the input file and the Tcl scripting language work. Nevertheless, I would like to know; I understand that to model a rigid body, in OpenSees, you can tie the horizontal and vertical displacements of the nodes of the rigid entity. Is there any other way? Or did I misunderstood?
