Drucker Prager model for Silicon dioxide powder in ABAQUS

Hallo, everyone,

I am PhD student in material processing. I have a project of using silicon dioxide powder as forming media for tube hydroforming process. I read some literatures about the material model of granular materials. It seems that the Cap model in ABAQUS should be suitable for prescribing the material behavior in FE model. But it is not easy to do the triaxial test for silicon dioxide powder.

Getting the strain increments for gradient plasticity implementation

Hello there

I am working on gradient plasticity implementation by using UMAT in Abaqus software.

I need to access the value of total strain incriment for all integration points after the UMAT has been called for the first integration point.

As I know, the value of strian incriment for one specific integration point will be passed to UMAT when that point called through UMAT,

but I just wonder is there any way to get these values at the starting point of each time incriment and do not wait for Abaqus to call all integration points.

Dear All,

I am going to draw a 3-D model to be run in Abaqus. I would like to know how I can do that.

I find it is a little bit cumplicated to design the 3-D structure with certain curvatures in CAE. 

Could anyone tell any assisting softwares or approaches of designing the 3-D geometry in a simpler way for finite element analysis?

Periodic Boundary Conditions and Contact Elements with Cohesive Zone Law in Ansys

Hi all,

 

I have a problem with periodic boundary conditions using contact elements with a cohesive zone law in Ansys.

In my micromechanical simulations of an RVE with periodic boundary conditions I would like to have a predefined fracture path. My aim is to realize the fracture path with voronoi cells. There I get problems at the boundary of the periodic domain.

Minimum length scale in ABAQUS

This might be a simple question. What is the smallest length scale that can be simulated in ABAQUS. I am trying to run some continuum estimates for particles with dimensions in the nanometer range (10 to 50 nm). Is it possible to specify such length scales in ABAQUS?

Abaqus- non uniform pressure load in 2D

Hi all,

 

I am new to Abaqus and I found the problem I unexpectedly cannot solve.... My case is quite simple- I have 2D frame, part of which is under nonuniform pressure distribution (described by linear function). When I create analytical field referring to previously created local CSYS, apply a load in 'static general' with distribution determined in analytical field and try to run a job, i have a message:

abaqus exec\pre.exe aborted with system error code 5.

Dear all

 I encouter this problem when I utilize finner mesh,while no such error was reported if a coarse mesh was used.

Could it be a problem of my computer's memory? But which memory exactly? (physical memory or the space for storage)

 I feel the calculation has not yet fully utilized my computer's physical memory according to the task manager. 

 

So, my questions are:

1. where possibly would the problem be?

2. how can i possibly address them?

Smeared Cracking Model in ABAQUS

I am trying to analyse a beam subject to elevated temperature using smeared cracking model for concrete. Its sequentially coupled thermal stress analysis. I am a newbie as far as ABAQUS is concerned. Can someone please help me out with the smeared cracking model. I am not able to figure the tension stiffening properties that I need to enter. Please help.

Post-Processing Software for LSTC LS-DYNA

Dear friends,

 

I am using LS-Dyna for my master's thesis. I am now using 'LS-Prepost 3.1' for my post processing. I am doing explicit time integration based contact modelling. Is Prepost is the best post processing tool for such modelling or is there any other better software. Of course Prepost is free, but i wanna know if there is any other free and more powerful post processor.
