particle simplification
When can a system be treated as a particle? when not?
Particle vs System
R. Chennamsetti, Scientist, R&D Engineers, India
Prof. H. Tan
If the shape of the body as well as the exact location of the point of application of the forces are not important, then the system may be treated as a particle. The forces are assumed to be passing through the CG.
In a system, the motion of the system about it's mass center is also important.
