Introduction
Happy Halloween!
In this issue of the Journal Club, I would like to introduce the problem of catalyzed growth of semiconductor nanowires and ways to model it. I would provide web links to only a few articles, hoping that you would download and actually read them so that we can have a more in-depth discussion.
The dynamic behavior and multifunctional laboratory at the University of South Carolina is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to be filled as soon as possible. Successful applicants have had a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Applicant should describe innovative fundamental research in the mechanical engineering related to experimental Mechanics. Examples include but are not limited to high strain properties of materials, digital image correlation, inverse methods.
Dear Colleagues,
Prof. Ole Sigmund from the Technical University at Denmark: http://www.topopt.dtu.dk/ was the presenter of the 2014-2015 Newmark Distingusihed Lecture which was given in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. His presentation was titled: Topology Optimization: State of the art and future perspectives. You may find a link to the video lecture here
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications from outstanding individuals for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the broad disciplinary area of dynamics.
The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), invites applications and nominations for a faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of structural engineering. Salary is nationally competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications will begin soon after their receipt and will continue until the position is filled. Topics of specialization will be broadly considered across the structural engineering discipline.
Dear Colleagues
I would like to make you aware of a computational solid mechanics minisymposium being organized for the 2015 EMI conference at Stanford University, June 16-19, 2015: http://www.emi2015.info/minisymposia/symposia#MS41.
