There are two PhD openings for the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida under the supervision of Prof. Katerina E. Aifantis. One position focuses on experimental aspects such as materials synthesis for energy and bio applications, while the other on continuum mechanics. Modelling and simulation of building energy by software tools (e.g. OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, or IES, etc.) for analysis and optimization of building performance, including thermal heat gains, solar access, daylighting, glare, air conditioning and mechanical ventilation system, etc.
