New Chairs at University of Exeter

Submitted by Chris W Smith on

The University of Exeter will shortly announce several new chairs it is seeking to fill.

The chairs are full tenured chairs and in the following areas -

Cell Mechanics (two chairs, one nominally experimental and one nominally theoretical).

Structural Dynamics, possibly with an aerospace flavour.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please contact me (c.w.smith-at-exeter.ac.uk) for an informal discussion.

ANSYS Mechanical Thermal Analysis - Average Temperature

Submitted by noppawit on

I've a result from thermal transient analysis. The result shows the maximum and minimum temperature of 4cm * 4cm plate with thickness of 1 mm.

Since the temperature of that plate is not uniform, so I'd like to see the average temperature from overall plate. How can I do it?

Thank you.

I am graduating in August and would like to look for a postdoc position in solid mechanics or biophysics. I am keeping an eye on this forum for openings myself. But if anyone happens to know some other great opportunities, please kindly let me know.

Streamline Measurement Process with Technological Advance Tooling for Measuring Brake Disc

Submitted by sifisonxumalo on

Any who has ideas on my reseasch project.

These are the topics are need to cover for now.

1. Wearing modes to classify the disc failure.

2. What are the latest advance technological technics avaliable to measure disc brakes more efficient, 100% accurate with scale of micro's and effective.

3. Any work that has been conducted on disc brake modes literature

4. How big is this problem brake disc failure global

periodic B.C.

Submitted by ChangyongCao on

Dear ALL,

I am currently want to code a little program for micromechanics analysis based on FEM. But I am not sure how to implement the periodic B.C. in it.  I refer the general formulations of FEM for engineers not the tensor forms. Hope you give a detailed explanation or example. Thanks very much.
