PhD openings in ME or MSE at Missouri S&T

Submitted by Caizhi Zhou on

PhD openings are available in Dr. Caizhi Zhou's group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science and Engieering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla). Research projects may involve crystal plasticity finite element modeling or atomistic simulations. The students will receive rigorous training and interact intensively with their academic advisor. The financial support will be in the form of GRA with a monthly stipend of approximately $2100 for 12 months each year (the tuition will be waived).

Postdoctoral position in mechanics/robotics at UCLA

Submitted by Khalid Jawed on

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work at the intersection of robotics and mechanics. The selected candidate will join the Structures-Computer Interaction Laboratory, a new group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the University of California, Los Angeles. Visit our website: https://structures.computer. The research project aims to use collaborative robots to investigate the mechanics of structures (slender/flexible structures in particular). Our lab is equipped with a Sawyer collaborative robot from Rethink Robotics. We will explore how continuum mechanics simulations can be used to train robots to perform simple tasks, e.g. tying knots in ropes. Details of the project will be determined after consultation with the candidate.
