How to calculate total bending moment over a cross section, ADINA.

Hi everybody.

I use ADINA. After my static analysis, I plot bending moment distribution over a cross section. Is there a way to find total bending moment at that section in ADINA software? I think some integration is required to do that, but have no idea how to manage it with the software. Surely, there are similar operations in ANSYS, ABAQUS etc.

Any help appreciated.

Matlab-based Digital Image and Volume Correlation Simulators

Submitted by franck@brown.edu on

Hi,
I just posted a Matlab-GUI easy-to-use DIC and DVC simulator tool on our website (franck.engin.brown.edu) for download for anyone that works with DIC or DVC. The purpose of these simulators is to simulate deformation fields based on a user provided image (2D) or volume (3D), and evaluate the correlation results with the analytical solutions to provide quantitative feedback on the "goodness" of the provided images for DIC or DVC purposes.
Feel free to use them for research, teaching, etc. We welcome any suggestions for improvements, etc.

EFG in LS-DYNA for crack simulation

Submitted by Jiang Chen on

Hello, everyone!

I am a graduate student in Hunan Univ, my research field is meshless method. Instead of using codes to calculate, I find EFG has been well developed in ls-dyna, and using software may be more convienient for me.

But I can only find some introductional information, so I want to find some useful material in iMechnica.com!

Composite Layup ABAQUS

Submitted by s_gupta on

Hi,

I'm trying to do simulation of a standard shear test of a composite specimen. Hence I'm using the composite layup  to create the section of my specimen. But I'm getting the following error no matter what i do. I have even tried the following tutorial but still I'm getting the same error. The link to the tutorial - https://sites.google.com/site/abaqus2010/tutorial_1/tutorial_1-3c.

I'm stuck here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

How can predefined fields be mapped from old mesh to new mesh using *map solution in ABAQUS?

Dear friends,

I used *map solution a lot and it works fine in my modelling. Recently, I
came across a problem with "predefined fields". The ABAQUS's
documentation explicitly states "temperature and field variables are
mapped from the old mesh to the new mesh". According to my experience,
temperature is fine and it can be correctly mapped. Unfortunately, the
predefined fields can not be mapped.

I am not sure this is a bug of ABAQUS (slight likeliness) or something

TeX-based equation image generator

Submitted by N. Sukumar on

If you would like to include LaTeX equations in a presentation (Powerpoint, Keynote, or others), and have not found a good solution so far, then you might wan't to consider TeXclip.  It is on the web (no installation needed) and high-quality images of the TeX equations can be incorporated into a presentation rather seamlessly. I have been using TeXPoint so far, but do like the simple usage and the quality of the images that TeXclip generates.

About Franc3D/Osm 3.2 surface coordinate system issue

The software version I installed and used is 3.2 version. I created a
3-D brick and meshed it in ANSYS 14. Then, I output the .cdb file and
convert it using OSM 3.2 software. After that, I started FRANC3D 3.2
software and follow the guidance in the "Thin Shell
Tutorial v2.6". It was said that I have to check the surface coordinate
system by changing direction of "GREEN BARS to the Same X direction".
