Professors Kenneth Liechti and Rui Huang in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Texas Austin have an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to engage in a funded project in the area of multilayered van der Waals materials. Although the project involves both experiments and modeling, the thrust of this position will be experimental. Accordingly, we seek a creative individual who has prior experience in conducting nanomechanical experiments with 2D materials.

The Mechanics of Infrastructure Materials research group is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to work on multi-physics continuum modelling of solid-state batteries. The postdoc will be co-supervised by Dr Emilio Martínez-Pañeda (Mechanics of Materials) and by Prof Greg Offer and Dr Monica Marinescu from Imperial's Battery group.

Structural Integrity and MEchanical Design (SIMED) group is seeking a 17-month full-time Postdoctoral Researcher (or Associate Researcher, not holding a PhD) in Computational Fracture Mechanics. The successful applicant will work at the Polytechnic Engineering and Architecture Department (DPIA) of the University of Udine, under Dr Enrico Salvati’s supervision.

The Structural Optimization research group at Technion (PI Oded Amir) invites applications for a PhD position in the field of Topology Optimization using Iso Geometric Analysis.  The position is part of a research project funded by the Israeli Science Foundation (ISF).  

The project

The project will involve the following challenges and opportunities:

2 funded PhD positions are available in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Temple University.  One research focus is on the design of architected composite structures for 3D printing.  More broadly, the student will be exposed to computational materials and mechanics of energy, nano/bio, and engineering materials.  The student will have opportunities to work with experimentalists and data scientists to generate high-impact research works.  Temple University is located in Philadelphia, the sixth-most populous U.S.
