PhD and Master’s Positions in Soft Tissue Mechanics

Submitted by Y.Jason.Hua on

The LESION (CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM BIOMECHANICS) Laboratory at the University of Mississippi's Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking graduate students (PhD, MSc).

The LESION Lab aims to develop imaging and modeling tools for the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of central nervous system disorders, with a particular focus on diseases related to the eye and brain, such as glaucoma and traumatic brain injury.

NIH-funded Postdoc on Imaging-Informed Computational Modeling of the Eye

Submitted by grytz on

The Grytz Lab seeks a Post-doctoral fellow for imaging-informed computational modeling of the eye. This position is funded from a recently awarded NIH/NEI R01 grant. The candidate will participate in developing personalized finite element models that combine patient-specific morphology and biomechanical property inputs from in vivo imaging using optical coherence tomography to advance personalized medicine in the eye

Academic post in Experimental Mechanics at the University of Southampton

Submitted by Fabrice Pierron on

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton is recruiting at Assistant/Associate Professor level in experimental solid mechanics. The application deadline is Jan. 19th 2022. More information is available here. This is an opportunity to join a very well equipped lab in the field of image-based mechanics with activities in a broad range of subjects. Some examples can be found on the PhotoDyn website.

NIH-supported PhD position in biomechanics, Worcester Polytechnic Instituite (WPI)

Submitted by songbai on

An NIH-supported PhD position is available in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Instituite (WPI). Our lab focuses on the health of the central nervous system, with projects on traumatic brain injury and surgical image guidance of spinal surgical procedures. The student will have freedome to focus either on computational biomechanics, experimetnal biomechanics, or medical imaging, or a combination of these elements. Our lab works closely with other engineers and clinicians. Students with a minimum of GPA of 3.5 are encouraged to apply.

Postdoc on Digital image correlation and Virtual fields modeling

Submitted by iasigal on

Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics, University of Pittsburgh.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join our team to work on Digital image correlation and Virtual fields modeling. Candidates must have experience in these techniques. Experience analyzing images from optical coherence tomography or microscopy will be an advantage. Experience in ophthalmology or vision science is not required. A solid publication record and evidence of strong writing and presentation skills is required.

Postdoctoral position on: Inversion in nonlinear elastodynamics with application to the imaging of damaged media - CNRS & Aix-Marseille University, France

Submitted by Cédric Bellis on

A one-year postdoctoral position is available at the Laboratory of Mechanics & Acoustics, CNRS & Aix-Marseille University, France.

This project focuses on the propagation of waves in damaged solids, which involves nonlinear phenomena. The proposal aims at studying the inverse problem of parameter identification from elastodynamic data to quantify the nonlinear properties of the propagation medium. The work will address the theoretical and numerical aspects of the problem.

Postdoc in Soft Tissue Biomechanics and Imaging, University of Pittsburgh

Submitted by iasigal on

The Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral fellow position on multi-scale biomechanics of soft tissues. The project goal is to understand aging and vision. To apply, send TWO representative publications and CV to Ian Sigal, PhD (ian [at] ocularbiomechanics.com). More details about the Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics at www.OcularBiomechanics.org. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged.

Postdoctoral position on: Identification of elastic microstructures from full-field measurements - CNRS & Aix-Marseille University France

Submitted by Cédric Bellis on

A one-year postdoctoral position is available at the Laboratory of Mechanics & Acoustics, CNRS & Aix-Marseille University, France.

The project focuses on image-based identification problems for physical quantities of interest in solid mechanics within the framework of optical measurement methods for complex manufactured materials. The guideline objective is to develop an identification framework for multiscale, heterogeneous and anisotropic media.

More information can be found in the attachment.

Application deadline: February 28th, 2015.
