I am modelling stationary Mode-I & Mode-II crack in a simple 2D plate on abaqus. My problem is a prescribed displacement problem i.e. I have to apply displacement boundary condition on the edges of a plate instead of tractions. I am a begginer on abaqus and need help in this regard. Moreover, I'll appreciate if anyone could give me some instructions or tutorials on analysing stationary cracks with both FEM and X-FEM.

Dear All,
I am running an axisymmetric model of a parabola tip on rigid surface contact under external load controlled by CLOAD. However, the CPRESS value outputed integraded over the annular areadoesnot equal to theexternal load inputed. The reaction force from the system does though.
I am suspecting that there is shaer component in the numbers given by CPRESS, but CSHEAR are all zero. Could anyone give me a hint on this problem.

I have one question,,, when adding material plasticity in Abaqus using the
power law...
to what limit shall i go in the tabulated form is it to 100% plasticity or
to the maximum strain the material can take...
in other word,,, if the power law is: σ =250*εp^0.123...
shall i inter the values till at σ=250, ε=1... or shall i stop at let say ε=0.25...

Hello, I am modeling the spherical indentation of a poroelastic layer. I am modeling the indenter as a rigid analytical surface. As you know, the total pressure in a porous medium at each point is the sum of the elastic stresses from the matrix, and the pore pressure caused by fluid pressurization. Abaqus provides both the pore pressure and of course the rest of the stress quantities.
I have written a introduction manual/tutorial on Abaqus Scripting. I got some good feedback from my colleagues. Therefore, I would like to share the manual.The manual should give a short introduction (it will not take more than one hour) to Abaqus script in Python.

I have written a UEL for Strain Gradient Plasticity and is working well when i give Boundary condition as Concentrated force, But when i apply displacement boundary condition the it leads to 'system error 144'.
Iknow that system error 144 corresponds to division by zero or infinity, but then why it is coming in on displacement boundary condition is i am worried about.
I will be extremely helpful to anybody for any type of help on above problem.

Hi, I am working on modeling wave propagation in ABAQUS/CAE.
I am not expert on ABAQUS and trying to figure out how it works.
I have a 2D Shell steel plate (1 centimeter by 1 centimeter) and try to obtain wave speed at any points of plate.
I put the material properties in and used ABAQUS/Explicit analysis.
Time steps are 1E-009 seconds and there are 2 steps (impulsed at the first step and propagates at the second step).
The load pluged at the amplitude with equaily spaced for 0.1 micro seconds (so it becomes impulse load).

Hello, I am using the Abaqus UEL module to use a customised element type. I have all the stress values at the Gauss Points (3x3 Gauss Quadrature) which I have exported through the SVARS variable. Is there any way I can plot the stress contours on the geometry in Abaqus or any other software ?
