PhD positions in composite materials for wind turbine rotor blades at DTU Wind Energy

Submitted by Bent F. Sørensen on

The Department of Wind Energy at the Technical University of Denmark is advertsing new PhD-positions within 15 topics.

The PhD projects #5 to #9 in the Wind Energy Materials and Components Division all relate to wind turbine rotor blades, which are very large composite structures - the largests blades are now exceeding 100 metre in length. The PhD-projects cover various aspects of fibre composites from full blade structural scale down to materials scale.

PhD student position in the field of computational mechanics / phase-field modelling at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Germany

Submitted by bklusemann on

At the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, we are looking for one PhD student (m/f/d) in the field of computational mechanics / phase-field modelling to describe microstructure evolution during a thermo-mechanical process within the ERC Consolidator Grant "Modelling Assisted Solid State Materials Development and Additive Manufacturing" (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101001567/de). Application deadline is July 14th.

Ph.D. Positions in Mechanics and Materials at the University of Houston

Submitted by Shailendra on

We have open Ph.D. positions in my group at the University of Houston (UH) this Fall or Spring 2022. The general area of research is the mechanics of material failure. Of particular interest, is understanding how microstructures influence damage and fracture processes in advanced materials including metals and polymers. We formulate theoretical frameworks to assess and predict material behaviors at different length-scales via computational modeling and simulations. We closely collaborate with experimental groups.

PhD position in data-driven stochastic multi-scale simulations of composite materials

Submitted by ludovicnoels on

Context

As part of a Europeanproject between different industrial partners and Universities, the main objective of the doctoral position will be to develop methodologies in thecontext of data-driven stochastic multi-scale simulations.

PhD opportunity

The doctoral project will be supervised by Prof. L. Noels of ULg (http://www.ltas-cm3.ulg.ac.be/), in close collaboration with the partners of the project. The position is that of a research engineer starting in Fall2021.
